What does cognition mean?
Cognition refers to our own understanding in terms of our perception, memory and reasoning.
What does cognition involve?
Attention, thinking and memory.
What are the two models for processing information?
Selective attention and sequential processing.
What is selective attention?
Selecting certain pieces of information to focus on in order to complete a task so we do not become overwhelmed with detail.
What is sequential processing?
Uses the computer as a metaphor. The brain is sequential and is able to guess what it will see.
