Appreciative Inquiry: 5 Principles (EN) Flashcards
Constructionist principle
β’ We jointly construct our social realities through our shared conversations, and then our social reality influences the way we talk.
β’ When we change the way we talk together, the questions we ask, and so on, we change the present reality.
πβ’ Words create worlds.
Simultaneity principle
β’ Change happens the moment we ask the question, or the moment we make a comment or enter the conversation.
π¬β’ Inquiry is intervention.
Poetic principle
β’ There are many perspectives, multiple ways of knowing and understanding. How we understand a situation or a person and what story we tell about it affects everything.
π
β’ You have a choice in how you see things.
Anticipatory principle
β’ We move in the direction of our thoughts and the images that we hold.
β’ What we focus on, expands.
πββοΈβ’ We see what we expect to see; what we look for, we find.
Positive principle
β’ The questions we ask and what we inquire into are generative.
The more positive and generative the questions, the more positive and generative the outcome.
π‘β’ Positive images and positive actions produce positive results.
