Q

Functions of the Components of a Synovial Joint

A
  • Synovial Membrane - Makes Synovial Fluid
  • Synovial Fluid - Lubricates the join to allow it to move smoothly
  • Joint Capsule - Prevents wear and tear on the bones
  • Bursae - Fluid sacs which help to prevent friction in the joint
  • Cartilage - Cushions the joint and prevents frictionand wear and tear on the ends of bones
  • Ligaments - Connect bone to bone and stabilise the joint to prevent dislocation
  • Tendons - Connect bone to muscle and allow a muscle to pull on a bone
