Application of Statistics Flashcards
how many groups are being compared
if 1- 2= t test
if more than 2= ANOVA
T test, paired and independent
paired: within group comparison before and after tx
independent: two diff. groups, 1 group got the control and one group got the intervention, comparing scores of different groups after each
ANOVA
post-hoc analysis needed
correlation
R= simple, there is a relationship but can’t determine cause/effect
regression
Rsquared= complicated, able to identify “contributing factors” not necessarily the cause but can say it contributed significantly
parametric tests are used when
when there are normative data values, nice bell curve, nicely and evenly distributed values
independent t tests
paired t tests
pearson’s correlation
non parametric tests are…
when there are no norms, no normal shaped bell curve, not evenly distributed, or super small groups
Mann Whitney U= independent T test
Wilcoxon Signed rank test= paired t test
Spearman’s rho= pearson’s correlation
