Apolipoproteins Flashcards
What induces HMG-CoA reductase
Insulin
HMG-CoA step
Converts HMG-COA to mevalonate
ApoE
Mediates remnant uptake [Exit out of blood]
ApoA-I
Activates LCAT [A-I Activates LCAT]
ApoC-II
Lipoprotein lipase cofactor [Cofactor for LPL]
ApoB-48
Mediates chylomicron secretion [48 inches of gut]
ApoB-100
Binds LDL receptor [100 is the top, it’s the end, it’s where LDL ends it’s trip]
Chylomicron Apo proteins
They have everything except B-100 (for LDL)
ApoE found on
Everything except LDL (LDL has it’s own B-100)
ApoA-I found on
Only Chylomicrons and HDL [Chylomicrons move chol. from Gut to Liver, HDL from Periphery to Liver, both need LCAT to mature]
ApoC-II found on
Chylomicron, VLDL, and HDL [Chylomicron and VLDL have lots of fat so need LDL, HDL is just a repository for most things]
ApoB-48 found on
Chylomicron and chylomicron remants [From 48 inches of Gut]
ApoB-100 found on
VLDL, IDL, LDL [All of the DLs]
