What is aplastic anaemia defined by and criteria
Pancytopenia with hypocellular marrow and no abnormal cells
At least 2 of:
<100 Hb
platelets <50
<1.5 neutrophils

Fanconi syndrome, dyskeratosis congenita

Cytotoxics
Chloramphenicol
Sulphonamides
Phenytoid
Gold
Viral causes aplastic anaemia
Parvovirus, hepatits
Clinical features of alastic anaemia
Normocytic anaeia
Leukopenia (sparing of lymphocutes)
TP
Can be presenting feature of ALymphoblastic or MLeukaemia
May go on to PNH or myelodysplasia

Blood products
Prevention and treatment of infection
Treatment aplastic anaemia
Anti-thymocyte globulin - ATG
Anti-lymphocyte globlin - ALG
+ steroids (prevent allergy)
Immunosupression eg ciclosporin
Aloogeneic stem cell transplants
What can ATG and ALG cause
