Aperture Flashcards
Where is the aperture located?
In the lens
What is “f-stop”?
F-stop is the term used to denote APERTURE measurements on your camera. The aperture controls the amount of light that enters the camera lens and it’s measured in f-stops.
Beyond the scientific fact of the amount of light that enters the camera, what does f-stop determine?
d. “Unless you’re working with a whole lot of light, or in very low light, your f-stop is usually more about style and how you want the photo to look than about necessity,”
What is a fast lens?
A fast lens can let in more light than a lens with a narrower maximum aperture.
This allows the camera to take photos at relatively fast shutter speeds for a given amount of ambient light
When do you need a fast lens?
With a fast lens you can produce exceptionally shallow depth of field and sharp photos, under low light conditions, without a tripod
