explain the beneficence and nonmaleficence principle
strive to benefit those we work with while also doing no harm; solve conflicts without inflicting harm
explain the fidelity and responsibility principle
establish relationships of trust with those we work with, uphold professional standards; consult with others; engage in pro bono work
explain the integrity principle
promote accuracy, honesty, and truthfulness when engaging in work in the field
explain the justice principle
all persons are entitled to benefit from the work of psychology; acknowledge biases and boundaries of competence
explain respect for people’s rights and dignity principle
respect all people including their right to confidentiality, privacy, and self-determination; respect individual differences; recognize special safeguards may be necessary to protect rights and welfare of people
explain the first four parts of section 1 resolving ethical issues
1) correct or minimize when your work has been misused or misrepresented
2) if ethical work conflicts with law, make the responsibility to behave ethically clear, and try and resolve conflict
3) if ethical work conflicts with organizational demands, make the responsibility to behave ethically clear, and try and resolve the conflict
4) if you observe another psychologist commit an ethical violation, try and resolve it with them

5) if you observe an ethical violation and it cannot be solved by your intervention, you must report it to an organization who can help address the issue

1) boundaries of competence: understand and acknowledge the boundaries of your competence (do not teach or practice outside of your competence boundary); but continue to grow your competence, especially when it comes to cultural things
2) you can provide services in emergencies even if you do not have the necessary training, so as to not deny services
3) continue to develop and maintain competence

5) delegate work when necessary, especially when avoiding a dual relationship, just ensure competence of others
6) do not allow personal problems to interfere with work, when they do consult to determine if work needs to be suspended

3) do not engage in other harassment

5) avoid multiple relationships especially when they can be harmful. if one is harmful, take steps to resolve it, also explain boundaries of multiple relationships
6) avoid taking on professional roles that might have a conflict of interest

4) ensure statements are based in fact, ethically sound
5) do not get testimonials from current therapy patients
6) do not solicit therapy patients in person to aid in advertising
explain section 6 record keeping and fees (7 parts)
1) appropriately complete, store, and destroy records retaining to clients
2) make sure records are kept in locked and confidential places
3) cannot withhold emergency records, even if payment has been withheld
4) reach an agreement ASAP on payment, be transparent and law abiding, if legal measures for payment collection are to be used must inform client first
5) can barter if it is not exploitative and causes clinical damage
6) accurately report the services being provided
7) when splitting payments with another provider, make sure it is done in a fair way
