A situation or feeling that appears contradictory but upon inspection is actually true
Paradox
A deliberate, extra agent, and often outrageous exaggeration
Hyperbole
The ordering of words in a pattern or sentence
Syntax
The repetition if similar vowel sounds
Assonance
When sentences or phrases have similar structure in poetry or prose
Parallelism (parallel structure)
A 19-line poem, consisting of 5 tercets and a quartet
Villanelle
A system for describing the meter of a Poe. By identifying the number and types of feet per line
Scantion
Refers to the basing of a plot or event where the reader can expect or anticipate the results because of knowledge of biblical events
Bibliomancy
Refers to the practice of joining two or more words in order to create a new word
Portmanteau
An authorial device - uninterrupted or unhindered collective and occurrence of thoughts and ideas in the conscious mind
Stream of consciousness
A German word that literally translates to “double walker”, it is the copy or replication if a character
Doppelgänger
Using the milder or less abrasive form of a word
Euphemism
Misusing words with similar sounds but different definitions to create confusing or comedy
Malopropism
Leaning a human quality or emotion to a non human item or being

Anthropromorphism
A conscience statement Ina. Matter-of-fact tone, often stating a principal that is recognized as a universal truth
