Ap Bio Notes #30-31 Flashcards
MRNA carries
information from DNA to Ribosome
Ex) UCAGU
MRNA are
Messengers
How are mRNA, tRNA, and rRNA the same and different?
Same: all RNA, made up of nucleotides and have Ribose (sugar)
Difference: have different functions
If the DNA sequence is AAA, what is mRNA’s sequence (codon)?
UUU
What is tRNA sequence to UUU?
(Anticodon) AAA
tRNA molecule binds to what?
Specific Amino Acids
What is tRNA’s function?
Translation
rRNA are:
Essential building blocks of ribosomes
How are DNA polymerase and RNA polymerase different?
No lagging strand, makes proteins, only replicates a chunk, it’s 1 stranded
How are DNA polymerase and RNA polymerase the same?
Goes 5’——3’, and uses a Helicase, and use polymerase
What are mRNA’s Enzyme regulations, in Eukaryotes?
GTP cap, and poly-A tail.
What happens to Poly-A tail?
Gets eaten
What happens to GTP cap?
Binds to ribosome
Why does mRNA get spliced?
To create more protein products , and so there can be mutations for immune system
Electrophoresis separates what and how?
Separates molecules according to size and charge.
