A

- The leader plays repenique
- Played with stick but one hand can be used to create a softer sound

A
- Held horizontally and has large pitch range
- Has a stick inside that the player rubs with a wet cloth
- Pitch varies by adding or releasing pressure on the skin of the drum.

Tamborim
A
- Very small, high pitch drum
- Adds rhythmic punctuation to the bateria
- Held by the player and played with a stick

A
- Bell with two pitches
- Played with a stick
- Can also be played by clicking the bells together

- Controls bateria with its two tones
- Sets tempo and indicates change in section
