I: positive- more money to boost economy in phillip island area allowing it to be improved and more desirable. It can also further education on particular land and teach codes of conduct eg
negative- can lead to overuse of particular areas, the environments health is neglected
Conservation
humans effort that aims to protect environments
P: Museum, storehouse of living and non living things
I: Pest animal control at Phillip Island that aims to eradicate foxes to benefit the penguins and hooded plovers. As well as the Penguin parade that protects the penguins land.
I: This allows the natural species found in Phillip Island to be protected from introduced species. Protection of natural habitats from well managed parks.

P: resource, superiority over the land
I: Bimbadeen farm uses agricultural practices for cattle grazing and dairy cattle. However Bimbadeen are improving the Phillip Island landscape by planting trees, protecting vegetation and addressing salinity issues
I: negtaive- long last alterations to the land, reduction of biodiversity and modifications of habitats, pressure placed on some species.
positive- bimbadeen farm is taking a positive stance against the environmental issues surronding the farm and place protection strategies in place

Alienation: removes people from the environment
P- uncomfortable, seperation from environment
I- less participation, more use of electricity, wider range of indoor pursuits
I- increased urbanisation causing loss of habitat, less travelling to outdoors has less impact on the environment
Easier/Access: new technologies make participation easier
P- decrease thrill of participation and the ‘wilderness experience’
I- more participation as it’s easier, greater range of activities
I- increased use of environment can have a negative impact through overuse however can build a bond between the land.

P- environment is a safer place with helmets, leg ropes therefore feel secure
I- more venues, participation in different weather patterns, can participative with a low skill/ experience through gps and forecast apps
I- greater stress and strain on the environment as there is more participation use to environment
Commercialisation (positive)
promoting and educating participation:
P- not a limitless resource, needs preservation for future generations
I- teaches minimal impact, adheres codes of conducts, educares features of environment at use, appropriate group size
I- small groups means less impact to the land, rotating venues allows for the environment to be revegetated, minimal impact strategies allow for reduced impact to land

P- environment is fun and adventures
I- increased participation as it’s easy, don’t need to buy equipment or sought out plans just need to pay the company
I- increased numbers can negatively impact environment

P- environment is a resource, used to make money
I- large groups, regular visits to environment, failing to follow codes of conduct and minimal impact strategies
I- environment suffers from overuse, unable to recover from continues use
selling outdoor experiences:
P- exclusively a commodity, only can be used by those who can afford it
I- decreased participation, experiences not available to all and can’t go to some venues as it’s restricted
I- lower participation keeps the impacts low to environment, low SES levels will decrease participation
