Benzodiazepines:

  1. Binds to Bz receptors on GABA receptors
    - increases the frequensy of channel openings
2. Low dose  - anxiolytic (no tolerance occurs)
   Sedative/calming
   Anterograde amnesia
   Anticonvulsant
   Muscle relaxant
3. Dependence
    Drowsiness
    Confusion
    Ataxia
    Avoid in glaucoma
