A. One or more somatic symptoms that are distressing or result in significant disruption of daily life. B. T. Thoughts: disproportionate and persistent about the seriousness of somatic symptoms. E. Emotion: persistently high anxiety about health or symptoms. A. Actions: excess time and energy devoted to these symptoms
How long must the somatic symptom be present to be diagnosed with somatic symptom disorder?
Although any one somatic symptom may not be continuously present, the state of being symptomatic is persistent (typically more than 6 months).
What are the criteria of specific phobia? (PHOBIA)
Persistent (more than 6 months). Handicapping (restricted lifestyle). Out of proportion. Beginning immediately and almost always. Intense fear or anxiety about a specific object or situation leading to Avoidance or enduring with intense anxiety.
What are criteria A of panic disorder?
A. Recurrent unexpected panic attacks. A panic attack is an abrupt surge of intense fear or intense discomfort that reaches a peak within minutes and during which time four, or more, symptoms occur.
What is criteria B of panic disorder? (ABC)
B. At least one of the attacks has been followed by 1 month (or more) of one of both of the following. 1. Behavior to avoid having panic attacks, such as avoidance of unfamiliar situations or exercise. 2. Concern or worry about the additional panic attack or their consequences.
What are the symptoms of panic disorder? (STUDENTS FEAR 3 Cs)
Sweating Trembling or shaking, Unsteadiness Dizziness, light headed or faint Depersonalisation or derealisation Excessive heart rate, palpitations Nausea or abdominal distress Tingling (numbness or paraesthesias) Shortness of breath or smothering Fear of dying, losing control or going crazy 3 C’s: chest pain, chills, choking

H. Harm or loss of attachment figure. U. Untoward event that causes separation from attachment figure worry. G. Going out of home. P. Physical symptoms with anticipated separation. A. Alone is a fear. N. Nightmares involving the theme of separation. D. Distress of separation. S. Sleeping with attachment figure.
How many symptoms of separation anxiety need to be met for it to be diagnosied?

At least 4 weeks for children and adolescent and typically around 6 months or more for adults.
What are the criteria for Agoraphobia? (COOPE) (PHOBA)
Fear or anxiety about: C. Crowded areas. O. Open areas. O. Outside the home. P. Public transport. E. Enclosed spaces. Persistent (more than 6 months). Handicapping (restricted lifestyle). Out of proportion. Because of thoughts that escape or help might not be available in the event of developing panic-like symptoms or other incapacitating or embarrassing symptoms. Intense fear or anxiety about a specific object or situation. Avoidance or enduring with intense anxiety or with a companion.
How many symptoms of agoraphobia are needed for the diagnosis?
There must be fear or anxiety about 2 or more of the symptoms.
What are the criteria of generalized anxiety disorder? (AND I C REST)
A. Anxious. N. No control over worry. D. Duration of 6 months. I. Irritability. C. Concentration impairment. R. Restlessness or feeling on edge. E. Easily fatigued. S. Sleep disturbance. T. Tense muscles.
How many symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder are need for the diagnosis?
3 or more (I C REST).
What are the criteria for social anxiety disorder? (FEAREDD)
Fear of social situations where exposed to possible scrutiny by others; Fears of being negatively evaluated. Exposure to the social situation almost always provokes fear or anxiety. Avoids the social situation or endured with intense fear or anxiety. Recognizes that the fear is out of proportion. Exclusion of fear induced by a substance or another mental or medical disorder; Excessive/unrelated to fear of another coexisting medical condition. Distress or impairment; Duration lasting for 6 months
