What is Agoraphobia?

A

Selective Mutism: Failure to speak in social situations (consistently)
can only speak to specific people

Agoraphobia: Fear of being in places where you might get trapped or embarassed. (Standing in line of a busy supermarket).

CBT

During Panic
* Reduce stimuli
* Offer PRN meds
* Stay with patient (pace along)
* Ensure safety
* Clear concise communication

After/Before
* Nutrition (avoid caffeine etc)
* Encourage Physical Activity
* Coping/relaxation/breathing/ distraction
* Allow patient to vent
