A
- Psychological process characterised by fear or apprehension in anticipation
- Disrupts focus, concentration and muscular control

Anxiety: TRAIT ANXIETY
A
- Level of stress that individual can handle
- Ranges from person to person
- Can be controlled by relaxation, and positive comments
- Comes from a person’s natural character

A
- Level of stress can fluctuate
- Comes from fear of failure

Sources of Stress
A
- Stress is non speciifc response on body when demand is placed on it
- Depends on previous experiences
- Expectations and pressure on athlete
- E.G. Missing a penalty goal previously

Optimal Arousal
A
- Arousal is the level of anxiety before or during a performance
- High focus = High anxiety = Low arousal (Dart)
- Low focus = Low anxiety = High arousal (AFL)
- Optimal arousal can be reached by achieving a middle ground
