Antisocial bx + Frontal Lobe Flashcards

1
Q

What happened to patients with antisocial pd?

A

Had 11% reduction in gray matter, where they had smaller prefrontal, which gave them less impulse control.

Also unsuccessful psychopaths had 22% reduction in prefrontal gray matter

Q

Tell me about PSYCHOPATHY & PFC Thickness?

A

Lit report shows reduction in prefrontal gray matter volume, gray matter loss in the Right Superior Temporal Gyrus, amygdala, volume loss, decrease in porterior hippocampal vol, exaggerated structural hippocampal asymmetry, and increase in callosal white matter volume in psychopathic individuals.

Q

What’s the connection between SEROTONIN and Prefrontal Lobes?

A

There is decreased activity of SEROTONIN neurons associated with increased risk taking and aggression (as said earlier)

also PFC is activated by large SEROTONIN pathways!
