Phenol
NOt used for patient, used to SCRUB COUNTER TOP OR FLOORS.
Cresol
has a phenol coefficient of 3X. Very strong, usually is used to DISINFECT ROOMS AND EQUIPMENT. In dilute situations, can be used as a VAGINAL DOUCHE.
Resorcinol
Slightly LESS EFFECTIVE THAN PHENOL, chief use is for TX OF PSORIASIS, EXCEMA, and ERYSIPELAS.
Thymol
Primarily used for MOUTHWASH.
Trinitrophenol
Phenol COEFFICIENT OF 7X. Used in dilute situations to treat BURNS AND SUPERFICIAL WOUNDS.

Proflavine dihydrochloride
dye, no longer used. was tx for CONJUNCTIVAL GONORRHEA AND OTITIS MEDIA.
Methylrosaniline
dye, extremely effective agiansst GRAM POSITIVE BACTERIA. can be used for tx of CHRONIC CYSTITIS, FUNGUS< and BURNS. MC treatment today is for RINGWORM.
Methylthionine chloride.
dye, used for URINARY ANTISEPTIC, can diagnostically locate ANOVAGINAL FISTUALS or SINUSES or CYSTOVAGINAL FISTULAS
Merthiolate
dye, 50% mercury, very efective against SPORE BEARING BACTERIA AND FUNGUS. It is the antiseptic of choice for the final scrup in PREOPERATIVE SKIN PREP.
Chlorine
halogen, mc used for dakin’s solution.
