What general considerations should be taken into account before starting antipsychotics?
Hyperthyroidism (increases dystonia risk)
Temperature regulation (antipsychotics further alter this)
Hypotension (drugs can exacerbate this)
GI obstruction
Urinary obstruction (anticholinergic effects of some drugs can worsen this)
Low white cell count or previous blood dyscrasia
Diabetes (drugs increase blood glucose)
Prolactinoma (increased growth)
