• Replace clotting factors that are either genetically missing or low in a particular type of hemophilia
Antihemophilic Indications
- Prevent blood loss from injury or surgery and to treat bleeding disorder
Antihemophilic Contraindications and Cautions

• Lactation
Caution:
• Pregnancy
Antihemophilic Adverse Effects
- Involve risk associated with the use of blood products
- Headache, flushing, fever, chills, lethargy
- Nausea and vomiting
- Stinging, itching, and burning at the sight of the injection

Physical: vital signs, weight, heart & lung sounds, skin, perfusion(pulses), (baseline)
Labs: Clotting studies, (PT & INR)

- Acute pain
- Ineffective tissue perfusion
- Anxiety or fear
- Deficient knowledge

Implementation
Implementation:
• Ensure the appropriate clotting factor is being used for the patient
• Administered by IV route only
• Monitor clinical response and clotting factors level regularly
• Monitor the patient for any signs of thrombosis
• Decrease the rate if infusion if headache, chills or fever, or tingling occur
• Arrange to type a cross-match blood
• Mark the chart of any patient receiving this drug
• Provide thorough patient teaching
