Main indication for anticonvulsants apart from epilepsy?
A
In mood stabilisation. Anticonvulsants can be used for management of bipolar affective disorder.

Adverse effects of anticonvulsants?
A
- Valproate and carbamazepine - drowsiness, ataxia, cardiovascular effects and induces liver enzymes.
- Valproate -teratogenicity (neural tube defects)
- Lamotrigine - small risk of SJS (Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
