CAP Pneumonia 0-2
- Antibiotics given
- If PA
Amoxicillin 1g tds IV/PO PA: Doxcycline PO 200mg/day on day 1 Then 100mg for rest of days
CAP Pneumonia 3-5
- Antibiotics given
- If PA
Co-amoxiclav IV 1.2g tds + Doxycycline PO 100mg bd
PA: Levofloxacin IV 500mg bd
ICU/HDU Pneumonia
- Antibiotics given
- If PA
Co-amoxiclav IV 1.2g tds + Clarithromycin IV 500mg bd
PA: Levofloxacin IV 500mg bd
How long do you give antibiotics for in 0-2 CURB65 pneumonia?
5 days
How long do you give antibiotics for in 3-5/ICU/HDU pneumonia?
7 days
When to give antibiotics in exacerbation of COPD?
If there is increased sputum purulence
IF NOT
Don’t give unless there is x-ray evidence of pneumonia

1st - amoxicillin
2nd - doxycycline
- Course for 5 days
Subacute native valve endocarditis

Acute/septic native valve endocarditis

Flucloxacillin IV
2g every 6 hours
Prosthetic valve/suspected MRSA endocarditis

Non-severe C. difficile infection

Metronidazole
Severe C. difficile infection

Peritonitis/Biliary Tract/Intra-abdominal infection

IV amoxicillin + metronidazole + gentamicin
PA: IV vancomycin + metronidazole + gentamicin
Uncomplicated female UTI
