NSAID: Aspirin
analgesic, antipyretic, anti inflammatory, anticoagulant
indications: mild, moderate fever, pain, inflammatory disorders, ischemic attacks, MI
contraindications: hypersensitivity, children, bleeding disorders,
adverse effects: ototoxicity, Reye’s syndrome, bleeding disorders
NSAID: Ibuprofen
analgesic, antipyretic, anti inflammatory
indications: mild, moderate fever, pain, inflammatory disorders
contraindications: hypersensitivity, GI (bleeding, ulcers) and Cardio problems (MI, HF, stroke, after CABS)
adverse effects: GI, Cardio problems, stevens-johnson syndrome, hepatitis
NSAID: Naproxen
analgesic, antipyretic, anti inflammatory
indications: mild to moderate pain and fever, dysmenorrhea, inflammatory disorders
contraindications: hypersensitivity, GI and Cardio problems, lactation
adverse effects: GI and Cardio problems, stevens-johnson syndrome, hepatitis
Celecoxib
analgesic, antipyretic, anti inflammatory
COX2 inhibitor
indications: arthritis, dysmenorrhea, acute pain
contraindications: hypersensitivity, renal and hepatic disease, after CABS
adverse effects: GI and Cardio problems, stevens-johnson syndrome
Prednisone
analgesic, antipyretic, anti inflammatory
steroid
indications: chronic inflammation, allergy, autoimmune disorder, hematologic, neoplastic conditions. NOT to be used for acute conditions
contraindications: active untreated infections, alcohol. NOT to be used chronically, children, to be stopped abruptly
adverse effects: muscle waste, osteoporosis, hyperglycemia, adrenal suppression, weak immunity, mood disorder, ulcers, Cushing syndrome
Acetaminophen
antipyretic, analgesic
indications: mild, moderate fever, pain
contraindications: hypersensitivity, hepatic impairment
adverse effects: hepatotoxicity, dermal problems (steven-johnson syndrome)
