Anti ice system Flashcards
Which parts of the aircraft does the pneumatic anti ice system heat?
Engine anti ice - Engine cowl lips
Wing anti ice - first 3 inboard leading edge slats
Where does the pneumatic anti ice system get heated air from?
Bleed air from the 5th and 9th stage of the compressor section of engine
Which windscreens are heated and how?
Front windows(1L and 1R) are electrically heated when FWD window heat is selected on
Side windows(2L and 2R) are electrically heated when side window heat is selected on. 4 and 5 would be heated by this switch if installed
Windows 3L and 3R are not heated
What does the OVERHEAT annunciator above the window heat switches indicate and do we get a MC?
Respective window has overheated
MC for ANTI ICE without recall
What does a bright L VALVE OPEN or R VALVE OPEN light indicate and do we get a MC?
Respective wing anti ice valve is in transit or disagreement between valve and switch position.
No MC
What does a bright COWL VALVE OPEN light indicate and do we get a MC?
Respective engine anti ice valve is in transit or disagreement between valve and switch position.
No MC
What does the COWL ANTI ICE annunciator light mean and do we get a MC?
overpressure condition in the duct downstream of the cowl anti ice valve.
MC for ANTI ICE without recall
What does a dim COWL VALVE OPEN light indicate and do we get a MC?
Cowl anti ice valve is open with switch on
No MC
What does a dim L VALVE OPEN or R VALVE OPEN light indicate and do we get a MC?
Respective wing anti valve open with switch on.
No MC
What does it mean if the window heat ON light is extinguished?
Either
window heat is off or,
window has overheated or,
failure of the window heat system
How is water removed from the windshield?
Wipers with permanent rain repellent coating
Which probes are heated(unless of standby power)?
TAT probe
Pitot probe
Alpha vanes
Which probes are not heated?
Static port
What happens when the Engine anti switch is selected on?
Opens the cowl anti ice valve, routing hot bleed air to the engine cowl lip.
Changes stick shaker logic to icing conditions
Changes min manoeuvring speed bars
When will the stick shaker logic and min manouvering speed bars revert to non icing conditions logic?
When the engine anti ice is switches off provided wing anti ice was not used during flight
