Anti-Ice Operations Flashcards
In what order shall you select A/I systems ON during ground Ops?
Cowls then Wings (as it says)
In what order shall you select A/I systems ON during In-Flight Ops?
Wings then Cowls (because of bleed pressure)
When a/c is cold soaked, what is the procedure for starting?
Motor the engine at Maximum during the 1st start attempt.
If unsuccessful, you may need to preheat. Contact MX!
What is COLD SOAKED?
A/c exposed to -10 deg C for “extended periods”
When shall you operate COWL A/I systems?
ICE EICAS
-or-
Visible Moisture
-or-
Contaminated Surfaces

When shall you operate WING A/I systems?
ICE EICAS
-or-
Visible Moisture
-or-
Contaminated Surfaces

Ground Ops: OAT <= 5 deg C on final taxi
-or-
Just prior to TO power
Flight Ops < 22k: TAT <= 10 deg C to SAT -40 deg C
-and-
When temp is <= 10 deg C prior to extending flaps. [Can turn it off when out of icing conditions after you see the L R HEAT lights.]
Flight Ops > 22k: TAT <= 10 deg C to SAT -40 deg C
-and-
ICE DET FAIL
How will you configure the bleeds during an A/I - ON Takeoff?
APU off 10th stage
Wings and Cowls off 14th stage
Icing conditions exist on the GROUND when: (AOM 12.15.1 vs FCOM1 pg 49) ??
AOM:
Contaminated RWY surfaces
-or-
SAT <= 10 deg C
-or-
Vis moisture (below 400’ AGL from FCOM)
Icing conditions exist in FLIGHT when: (AOM 12.15.1 vs FCOM1 pg 50) ??
AOM:
ICE EICAS
-or-
TAT <= 10 deg C
-or-
Vis moisture, except when SAT is <= -40 deg C
