Describe the operation of the Engine Anti-Ice Switch.

A
  • ON - ENG Anti-Ice Valve and PRV Commanded OPEN, allowing Bleed air to heat the engine cowl, Idle goes to Approach, Continuous ignition.
  • OFF (ON not visible) - Valve is commanded closed
  • VALVE Illuminated - valve disagrees with switch position.
  • TAI appears on EICAS below N1 when System is ON.

Describe the Wing Anti-Ice System.

A
  • Used as De-ice (When EICAS ICING Appears)
  • Used as Anti-Ice in Icing Conditions below FL220.
  • BLD Air Sourced After ENG BL Valve; Before ISLN Valve.
  • Inhibited on the Ground.
  • Provides protection to three outboard LE slats.

Describe Flight Deck Window Heat.

A
  • Electric.
  • Forward windows have Anti-Ice and Fog. ( Side- Fog only.)
  • Window Heat Switch ON operates as soon as power is established.
  • Automatically protected from “thermal shock.”
  • Air is ducted along top of forward windows continuously.
  • INOP Light indicates that a window is not being heated

A
  • Fully Automatic.
  • Heated when an engine is running, except
  • TAT Fault Light is only active when airborne.
  • Light indicates that a probe is not heated when commanded (in flight).

When do we turn ENG AI ON? OFF?

A
  • ON when temperature less than 10C with visible moisture or contamination present / expected, except when climbing / cruising and SAT < -40
  • ON in icing conditions with power reduced, all temps.
  • OFF when TAT is greater than 10C.
