Q

How does gastroparesis cause vomiting?

A

Poor gastric contraction leads to increased serotonin production (5HT3).
5HT3 binds to 5HT3Areceptors on dopaminergic afferent fibres which release dopamine at the vomiting centre. The dopamine binds to the D2R and induces vomiting.
