Anti-Anginal Meds Flashcards
What results in MI
-O2 supply vs. O2demand
-plaque obstruct perfusion leads to decrease supply
-increase demand precipitated by exertion of stress
Two types of Anginas
Stable Angina (CAD)
Unstable Angina (ACS)
What does an Unstable Angina do ?
increases chest pain severity, frequency and duration
Risk factors of Ischemic heart
disesase/angina
-HTN
-increase cholesterol diabetes
-Family Hx
-Stress
-Lack of exercise
The FIRST LINE DRUGS as treatment and prophalaxis
Nitrates
NITRATES
MOA
relieves angina by relaxing smooth muscle=vasodilation
-increase supply, decrease MVO2
-dilate cornary artery (relieves spasm)
-decreases preload (dilate veins)
-dilates arteries (decreases afterload) => decrease MVO2
-decreases intracellular CA causing smooth mucsle/vascular relaxation
Organic Nitrates (3)
isosorbide dinitrate
isosorbide mononitrtrate
nitroglycerin
Nitrates act on the …. and are…..
vein, venodilators
Nitrates cardiac work
decrease preload, afterload, MVO2
decrease coronary spasm
increase blood flow
CAD casues what kind of pain
chronic pain
MI causes what kind of pain
acute pain
Nitrates inidications:
used to relieve angina d/t CAD or prophylactically
