Anterior Triangle Part 2 Flashcards
What are the boundaries of the Carotid Triangle?
Sternocleidomastoid (XI CN)
Posterior belly of the Digastric (VII)
Superior belly of the Omohyoid (AC)
List the Arteries of the Carotid Triangle:
Common Carotid artery with Bifurcation at C3 Internal Carotid Artery External Carotid artery (Branches:) - Superior Thyroid Artery with superior laryngeal artery - lingual artery -facial artery -ascending pharyngeal artery -occipital artery
List the Veins of the Carotid Triangle:
Internal Jugular vein Common facial vein lingual vein superior thyroid vein middle thyroid vein
List the Nerves of the Carotid Triangle:
Vagus
Internal and External Laryngeal nerves (Branches of Vagus)
Hypoglossal Nerve (With N. to Thyrohyoid)
Ansa Cervicali
Sympathetic Trunk
List the Visceral structures of the Carotid Triangle:
Larynx (small portion)
Thyroid (small portion)
What are the boundaries of the Submandibular Triangle?
Anterior: Anterior belly of digastric muscle
Posterior: Posterior belly of digastric muscle
Superior: Inferior border of the body of the mandible
What makes up the floor of the Submandible Triangle?
- Mylohyoid: Originates in the mylohyoid line of the mandible. Inserts on midline raphe from chin to hyoid bone and the body of the hyoid bone. (V3)
- Hyloglossus: Originates in the greater horn of the hyoid bone. Inserts on the lateral surface of the tongue (CN XII)
- Middle pharyngeal constrictor: Originates in the greater horn of hyoid and stylohyoid ligament and inserts into muscle of other side at midline raphe.
What makes up the floor of the Carotid Triangle? ** check
The hyloglossus, middle constrictor, inferior constrictor, and thyrohyoid
List the contents of the Submandible triangle:
Stylohyoid muscle submandibular gland submandibular lymph nodes facial arter (Major branch-- Submental artery) Facial vein Hypoglossal nerve mylohyoid N Lingual Artery Lingual Nerve
The internal laryngeal Nerve all parallel:
The superior laryngeal artery
The external laryngeal Nerve will parallel:
Superior thyroid artery
The Vagus Nerve will parallel:
The common carotid
What is the Carotid Sinus:
Bulge right after the bifurcation. Has Baroreceptors that will monitor blood pressure
The superior cervical sympathetic ganglion lies on:
The muscles of the Carotid sheath
Name the three branches of the Trigeminal Nerve:
V1: Ophthalmic N.
V2: Maxillary N
V3: Mandibular N.
