Anterior Thigh POINAS Flashcards
Psoas Major MA
With origin fixed:
- hip flexion
- hip lateral rotation
with insertion fixed:
- Trunk flexion toward thigh
- Pelvic anterior tilt
stabilize hip joint when standing
Psoas Major PA
- sides of T12 - L5 vertebrae and discs between them
- TP L1-L5
Psoas Major DA
Lesser trochanter
Psoas Major N
Anterior rami of L1, L2, L3
Illiacus MA
With origin fixed:
- hip flexion
- hip lateral rotation
with insertion fixed:
- Trunk flexion toward thigh
- Pelvic anterior tilt
Illiacus PA
- Iliac fossa
- sacrum
- anterior sacroiliac ligaments
Iliacus DA
- lesser trochanter
- psoas tendon
iliacus N
Femoral nerve L2, L3, L4
Pectineus MA
- Hip adduction
- slightly flexes hip
- assists with hip lateral rotation
Pectineus PA
Superior pubic ramus
Pectineus DA
pectineal line of femur
Pectineus N
Femoral nerve L2*, L3
- may receive a branch from obturator nerve
Sartorius MA
at the hip:
- flexion
- abduction
- lateral rotation
at the knee:
- flexion
- medial rotation when flexed
Sartorius PA
Anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS)
Sartorius DA
Pes anserine of tibia
Sartorius N
Femoral nerve L2, L3
Rectus Femoris MA
Knee extension
- steadies hip joint
- helps iliopsoas flex hip joint
Rectus Femoris PA
Anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS)
- ilium
Rectus Femoris DA
Quadriceps tendon to tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament
Rectus Femoris N
Femoral nerve L2, L3, L4
Vastus Lateralis MA
Knee extension
Vastus Lateralis PA
Greater trochanter
- lateral lip of linea aspera
Vastus Lateralis DA
Quadriceps tendon to tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament
- Also attach to tibia and patella via aponeruroses *meidal and lateral patellar retinacula)
Vastus Lateralis N
Femoral nerve L2, L3, L4
