Anterior and lateral abdominal wall Flashcards
Describe fascial layers of anterolateral abdominal wall (superficial to deep):
i. Skin
ii. Superficial fascia (Camper fascia)
iii. Deep membranous layer of subcutaneous tissue (Scarpa fascia): continues inferiorly into perineal regions as superficial perineal fascia (Colles fascia).
iv. Investing fascia (superficial, intermediate and deep layers): cover the external aspects of three muscles layers and their aponeuroses; these layers cannot be easily separated from them.
v. Endoabdominal (transversalis) fascia: lines the internal aspect of the transversus abdominis muscle and aponeurosis.
vi. Extraperitoneal fat
vii. Parietal peritoneum: single layer of epithelial cells and supporting connective tissue.
