Antepartum fetal surveillance Flashcards
normal result for NST
reactive: >/=2 accelerations that are >/=15 BPM above baseline and >15sec long within a 20 min period
non reactiv: <2 reactions or recurrent variable/late decels
BPP normal amniotic fluid volume fetal breathing mvmt fetal mvmt fetal tone
8-10 points
abn 0-4 pts (oligo)
NST function
monitors external fetal heart rate for 20-40min
Contaction stress test fxn
external fetal heart rate monitor during spontaneous or induced (oxy, nipple stim) uterine contractions
Cxn Stress test normal v. abn
normal - no late or recurrent variable decels
abn - late decels with >50% of contractions
If a NST is noreactive, what two tests do you further evaluate with? What do you choose if there are contraindications to labor (placenta previa, prior myomectomy)?
BPP or CST. Do BPP if tehre are contraindications to labor
How do you get a definitive karyotype diagnosis?
chorionic villus sampling (10-13wks)
amniocentesis (15-20wks)
SCREEN for neural tube defects and anuploidy (15022 wks)
second tri quad screen
> 10wks - test with high sensitivyt and sepcificity for aneuploidy
cell fee fetal DNA
first trimester u/s measurement that is most accureate method of determining gestational size
crown-rump length
