What is the priority nursing action after an amniocentesis in an Rh- woman?
Administer Rhogam. Rhogam prevents isoimmunization from fetal blood exposure.
Which symptoms would alert the nurse to possible ectopic pregnancy?
Unilateral abdominal pain and missed menses. Ectopic pregnancy classically presents with unilateral stabbing pain, missed period, and possible bleeding.
Foods high in folate?
Leafy vegetables, dried ores and beans, seeds, and orange juice. Breads, cereals, and other grains are fortified with folic acid.
Food sources of iron?
Beef liver, red meats, fish, poultry, dried peas and beans, and fortified cereals and breads.
Sources of calcium?
Milk, calcium-fortified soy milk, fortified orange juice, nuts, legumes, and dark leafy vegetables.
Recommend fluid intake?
8-10 glasses (2.3L) of fluid. Preferred fluids are water, fruit juice, and milk.
