1
Q
drugs included:
A
- ketoconazole
- spironolactone
- eplerenone
- amiloride
- triamterene
2
Q
ketoconazole:
A
- antifungal agent → strongly inhibits all gonadal & adrenal steroid hormone synthesis
- indication → Cushing syndrome
3
Q
spironolactone:
A
- compete for mineralocorticoid receptor → inhibits Na retention, can antagonize aldosterone & testosterone synthesis
- indications → hyperaldosteronism, HF with reduced ejection fracture, hirsutism in women
- side effects:
- hyperkalemia
- gynecomastia
- menstrual irregularities
- skin rashes
4
Q
eplerenone:
A
- binds to mineralocorticoid receptor → aldosterone antagonist
- indication → hypertension, HF with reduced ejection fracture
5
Q
amiloride & triamterene:
A
act on ion channels in the luminal membrane
