ANS Basics Flashcards
alpha 1: location
Postsynaptic effectors: vascular smooth muscle of skin and splanchnic regions (alpha 1-> think baseline)
alpha 1: mechanism of action
Gq protein, stimulation of phospholipase C, increase IP3/DAG, increase intracellular Ca
alpha 1: effects
contraction/constriction of vasculature
alpha 2: location
think inhibitory!
sympathetic postganglionic nerve terminals (autoreceptors), platelets, lipocytes, and heteroreceptors in GI tract
(rember: autoreceptors are inhibitory)
alpha 2: mechanism of action
Gi protein inhibition of adenylate cyclase and decrease in cAMP
alpha 2: effect
inhibition: (relaxation or dilation)
beta 1: location
Beta 1 -> heart!
Postsynaptic effector; SA, AV, ventricular muscle of heart, lipocytes, brain, presynapse terminals, JGA kidney, ciliary body epithelium
beta 1: mechanism of action
Increase adenylyl cyclase, increase cAMP
beta 1: effect
Excitation: increase HR, conduction velocity, contractility
contraction of radial muscle, iris (mydriasis) - receptor?
alpha 1
iris: contraction of sphincter muscle (miosis)
M2, M3
Relaxation of ciliary muscle
B2 - far vision
Contraction of ciliary muscle
M3 (M2)
Lacrimal gland secretion
alpha a little, really M3 (M2)
PANS heart: receptor and effects
M2 (M3 a little)
-counter acts all of SANS stuff, but less effect in perkinjee system
