An indigenous leader of a group who persisted in the worship of the fod Sorimana (in Peru). Was denounced to Spanish authorities by informers (exploited rivalries). Gave probably the wrong rock as a Guaca (sacred statue of the god).

What do we learn about indigenous religion under spanish rule in Wightman’s text?
A
Indigenous ppl did whatever pleased the authorities (carrying a cross and whatnot), but adjusted and manoeuvered the colonial system to keep their traditional religions and spiritualities alive. Idea of resistence.
