Explain the economic system
The currency was based on silver pounds, shillings and pence. The coins bared the kings head and acted as a powerful symbol of royal authority. The currency was stable and seen as one of the greatest achievements, every five years were exchanged for a new design, people paying 15% of the value of their old coins to maintain the currency and provide profit for the king
Explain the trading system
They insured they had regular supplies of food and raw materials and a network of trading contacts. The country had over 25,000 people populating it - no city exceeded over 14,000. England also had a strong overseas trade, making them achieve a steady supply of ready money
Explain the taxation system
Money was collected annually - England was able to raise large sums of money quickly which underlines the wealth of the kingdom and the strength of the state
