Angles Flashcards
What is an angle?
Angle is the figure formed by two rays that have the same end point. The rays are called the sides of the angle and their common endpoint is the vertex of the angle.
What are congruent angles?
Angles that have the same degree measurement.
What are adjacent angles?
Adjacent angles are two angles in a plane that have a common verses and a common side but no common interior points.
If the angles share only a vertex or vice versa then the angles are not adjacent.
What is the bisector of an angle?
The bisector of an angle is the ray that divides the angle into two congruent a adjacent angles.
See bisector of angles and adjacent angle definitions.
What are complementary angles?
Complementary angles are two angles whose measures have the sum 90 degrees. Each angle is called a complement of the other.
46 is the complement of 44
46 + 44 = 90
What are supplementary angles?
Supplementary angles are only two angles whose measures have the sum of 180. Each angle is called a supplement of the other.
Ex the supplement of 70 is 110
70 + 110 = 180
What are vertical angles?
Vertical angles are two angles such that the sides of one angle are opposite rays to the sides of the other. When two lines intersect they form 2 pair of vertical angles.
