Explain cognitive preparation
Where the offender takes time to understand what makes them angry.
They identify the triggers.
Dissuasion’s are on remembering the feelings of anger and what caused those feelings.
Idea is to not prevent the anger but to prevent its escalation.
Explain skill acquisition
Skills taught can be relaxation, assertiveness, social skills.
This is individualised to meet offenders needs
They are (offenders needs) are met in the first stage.
Explain application training
Gives opportunity to practice their newly acquired skills.
Using their new skills they can avoid criminal acts
They will earn to respond in a non criminal way

This is unlike behaviour modification.
Tries to get to the core of the behaviour rather than the surface level.
Suggests it is better than behaviour modification.
