They lived in a town called a domus or a villa if they live in the countryside
Where did the plebeians live?
They lived in a plebeian insula
Where did the poorest plebeians live?
They lived at the top of the plebeian insula and often 1 family would have to share a single room
What was life like living in a plebeian insula?
There was no running water, rubbish was thrown on to the streets. There was constant danger of fire from cooking and could easily spread through the wooden structures

Any prisoners of war,children of slaves,people captured by pirates or bandits while travelling were often sold as slaves and parents in debt sometimes sold their own children into slavery

What was a wife expected to do for her husband?
Make his clothes,supervise slaves and oversee the rearing of her children
What happend to women at childbirth?
They died so men often married several times and a girl could easily end up marrying a man her fathers age
