Q

Egyptian Temple Architeture

A

This was an expression in stone. This was in the Trabeated Style (post and beam).

Columns were big and close togeather. This was because the lintels were limited on how much they could span. Flat Slabs of Stone formed the roof.

The temple plan consisted of 3 Parts:

  1. A Colonade Courtyard.
  2. A Hypostyle Hall
  3. A Sanctuary.

The entrance pylon was formed by two massive towers with battered or inclined walls. The building would get gradually smaller and darker untill you reached the tiny snctuary. (floor rose and the ceiling became lower)
