Anatomy & Physiology- Pure Male Reproductive System Flashcards
What is the tunica vaginalis?
The outer covering of the testes formed from the peritoneum
What is the tunica albuginea?
The fibrous covering of the testes dividing it into lobes
What is the tunica vasculosa?
The network of capillaries in the testes
What is the seminiferous tubules?

What are leydig cells?
Cells that lie in between the seminiferous tubules that produce testosterone
What is the epididymis?
Single highly convoluted tubule forming a mess at upper pole of testis
What is Vas Deferens?
Ducte turned from epididymis as it leaves the scrotum in the spermatic cord
What are the seminal vesicles?
Vesicles behind the bladder which join Vas Deferens by a stall duct to form ejacutatory duct which then joins to the urethra
What does the prostrate do?
Produces milky fluid filled with 30% sperm
What are the bulbouretheal glands?
Glands below the prostrate which produce a fluid to protect the sperm & secrete mucus to lubricate the penis
What are the 2 ligaments that support the penis during an erection?
Fundiform & supensory
Why does an erection occur?
Parasympathetic stimulus resulting in a massive increase of blood to fill the corpus cavernosa and the corpus spongiosum
What are the secondary male sex characteristic?
Development of body hair, deeper voice, muscle growth etc
What is spermatogenesis?
The process of sperm formation
What are the 3 parts of the sperm?
