Spinal accessory nucleus (at cervical spinal cord)

  • > formen magnum
  • > exit jugular foramen
  • > course down along internal carotid artery
  • > innervate trapezius & SCM

A

Cerebral cortex

  • > hypoglossal nucleus
  • > exit through hypoglossal canal
  • > course along occipital artery
  • > innervate muscles of tongue except palatopharyngeus (CN X)
