Anatomy of Coeliac Axis and Associated Structure Flashcards
What is the Coeliac Trunk
artery of the foregut
comes from aorta at T12
branches into 3 arteries: common hepatic, left gastric, splenic
general features and location of stomach
muscular, mixes, acidifies and liquefies food
behind: abdominal wall, diaphragm, left lobe of liver
below: left dome of diaphragm,
in front of: pancreas, colon, spleen, left kidney
arterial supply of stomach
left and right gastric
lesft and right gastro-epiploic
short gastric
venous and lymphatic drainage of stomach
right and left gastric drains into hepatic portal, short gastric and left gastro-omental drain into splenic vein which drains into hepatic portal via superior mesenteric vein,
right gastro-omental also drains into SMV
lymph drains from surfaces to curvatures where gastric and gastro-omental lymph nodes are located which then drains into coeliac lymph nodes
innervation of stomach
parasympathetic: branches of anterior and posterior vagal trunks
sympathetic: from T6-9 carried in splanchinic nerve
duodenum
have 4 parts: superior, descending, inferior and ascending
first 2cm of superior is mobile and has mesentery
bile and 2 pancreatic (accessary and main) ducts attach to descending part
arteries and veins of duodenum
Coeliac trunk from above
superior mesentery artery from below
gastroduodenal passes behind superior part which is a common site for ulcers
all veins drain into hepatic portal
