anatomy in facial radiography and CBCT Flashcards
1
Q
what is norma lateralis
A
- view of skull from the side
2
Q
what is norma frontalis
A
- view of skull from the front
3
Q
what is norma basalis
A
- view of skull from underneath
4
Q
what x-ray type lets us view norma lateralis
A
- lateral cephalometry
- lets us see soft tissues as well as bones
5
Q
what is a norma frontalis view of a radiograph good for viewing
A
- parts of mandible = remus and some of body
- not a good view for anterior mandible as the cervical spine is superimposed on it
- can’t really see condyle either as superimposed on mastoid process
- can see orbits and bony components of nasal cavity
- used to look at mandible
6
Q
what view do we use if we want to look t the maxilla
A
- frontal tilted view
- can see sinuses and orbits better too
- mandible changes shape in this view = has a curve up, instead of down
- radiolucency under mandible is foramen magnum
7
Q
in a basal view, how does the mandible look
A
- makes and upside down u-shape
8
Q
how thick are CBCT sections
A
- 0.4mm thick or thinner
9
Q
what is axial view of CBCT
A
- slices going across body
10
Q
what is lateral view of CBCT
A
- sagittal
- going from the side
- profile view
11
Q
what is a frontal view of CBCT also called
A
- coronal
12
Q
where is the hamulus
A
- little hook at the end of medial pterygoid plate
13
Q
are sinus pairs the same
A
- no they are often asymmetrical
