Anatomy and Physiology: Endocrine and Renal System Flashcards
endocrine system
produces chemicals called hormones to help regulare many body activities
Pineal gland
regulates circadian rhythem
pituitary gland
regulates other endocrine glands
thryoid and parathyroid glands
regulate metabolic rate and regulates blood calcium levels
Thymus gland
aids development of immune system
adrenal gland
regulate water and electrolyte levels
ovaries
regulate female reproductve system
testis
regulate male reproductive system
pacreas
regulates blood surgar levels
Adrenal glands
secrete epinephrine and norepineprhine.
above chemicals are neurotransmitters and engage in sympathetic nervous system when needed to ex: dilate bronchioles
renal system
helps the body regulate fluid leves, filter chemicals, and adjust body pH
kidney
filters blood and produces urine.
also filter a waste product called urea from the blood
assist the buffer system with the production of bicarbonate
ureter
transports urine to bladder
Urinary bladder
stores urine
urethra
transports urine to exterior
