Anatomy Flashcards
Superficiali muscles of gluteal region innerveated by
Gluteus Maximus = inferior gluteal
All others = superior gluteal
Deep muscle groups of gluteal (piriformis, obturator internus, gemelli, and quadratus femoris)
sacral plexus
Lesser sciatic forame ligaments
sacrospinous ligament + sacrotuberous ligament
sciatic nerve (spine nerves)
L4-S3 - doesn’t supply anything in gluteal region
Pudendal (spine nerves)
S2-S4
Posterior cutaneous nerve of thigh
S1-S3
Sciatic nerve seperates
in distal thigh into tibial nerve and common fibular
Boundaries of femoral triangle
superior - inguinal ligament
medially - lateral border of adductor longus
laterally - medial border of sartorius
Contents of Femoral triangle
NAVLy (lateral to medial)
Compartments of Thigh
Anterior, Medial and Posterior
Compartments of leg
Anterior, posterior and lateral
Anterior thigh muscles
Flexors - pectineus, iliopsoas, sartorius
Extensors - quadriceps femoris
Anterior thigh nerve supplu
femoral nerve (L2,L3,L4)
Medial thigh muscles
Adductors - longus, brevis, magnus, gracillis, obturator externus
Medial thigh nerve supply
Obturator nerve (L2,L3,L4)
Posterior thigh muscles
Semitendinosus, semimembranosus, biceps femoris
Posterior thigh nerve supply
tibial division of sciatic nerve (L5,S1,S2)
Anterior leg muscles
Dorsiflexors of ankel and extensors of toes - tibialis anterior, extensor digitorum longus, extensor hallucis longus, fibularis tertius
Anterior leg nerve supply
Deep fibular nerve (L4,L5)
Lateral leg muscles
evert foot & weakly plantarflex ankle - fibularis longus, fibularis brevis
Lateral leg nerve supply
Superficial fibular nerve (L5,S1,S2)
Posterior leg muscles
Superficial - plantarflexors of ankle - gastrocnemius, soleus, plantaris
Deep - flexors of toes + plantarflexors of ankle - popliteus, flexor hallucis longus, flexor digitorum longus, tibialis posterior
Posterior leg muscles nerve supply
tibial nerve
Type of joint at hip
synovial
