Anatomy Flashcards
For movement of the eye, what hole do the nerves go through?
Superior orbital fissure
What nerves pass through the superior orbital fissure?
Occulomotor (3)
Trochlear (4)
Abducens (6)
Opthalmic branch of trigeminal (5)
What happens to 5 as it passes through the superior orbital fissure?
Passes as 2 separate branches
What are the 2 branches of the opthalmic trigeminal?
Frontal nerve
Lacrimal nerve
Where does the frontal nerve go?
Goes out onto forehead
Where does the lacimal nerve pass to?
To the lacrimal gland
What does the lacrimal nerve become and carry?
Nasocilliary nerve (carries parasympathetic fibres to ciliary body)
What nerve innervates the superior oblique?
Trochlear
What are the muscles that control movement of the eye?
Superior oblique
Inferior oblique
Superior, inferior, lateral, medial rectus
What muscle controls opening of the eyelid?
Levator palpebrae superioris
What nerve innrvates the lateral rectus?
Abducens
Occulomotor nerve innervates what muscles?
Superior, inferior, medial rectus
Inferior oblique
What does the superior rectus do?
Elevation
What does the inferior rectus do?
Depression
What does the lateral rectus do?
Abduction
