What are the names of the 3 positions?
-Prone
-Supine
-Anatomical
What is Prone?
Laying face down, flat on stomach
What is supine?
Laying face up, flat on back
What is Anatomical position?
Body standing upright and facing forward. Legs parallel to one another, the upper limbs, or arms, hang at either side and palms face forward.
What is Anterior view?
The front surface
What is posterior view?
The back surface
What is superior view?
Above head
What is inferior view?
Below feet
What is medial view?
Even middle
What is Lateral?
Away from the medial
What is proximal?
Ex. Close to shoulder
What is Distal?
Ex. Away from shoulder (hand)
What is the frontal plane?
Divides the body into front and back sections
What is the transverse plane?
Divides the body into top and bottom sections
What is the midsagittal plane?
Divides the body into equal right and left halves
What is the parasagittal plane?
Divides the body in a vertical plane into unequal left and right halves from medial
What is the oblique plane?
Body at an angle
