Flexion
Bending at a joint, decreasing angle between two bones.
Extension
Straightening a joint, increasing angle between two bones.
Hyperextension
Extending joint beyond normal range of motion.
Abduction
Moving body part away from midline of body.
Adduction
Moving body part toward midline of body.
Pronation
Turning arm downward (palm down).
Supination
Turning arm upward (palm up).
Retraction
Moving a part backward.
Elevation
Raising a part.
Protraction
Moving a part forward.
Depression
Lowering a part.
Circumduction
Circular motion at hip or shoulder.
Rotation
Turning on a single axis.
External Rotation
Rotation at hip or shoulder away from midline.
Internal Rotation
Rotation at hip or shoulder toward midline.
Inversion
Turning sole of the foot inward.
Eversion
Turning sole of the foot outwards.
Dorsiflexion
Bringing foot towards the shin.
Plantarflexion
Pointing the foot downward.
Ulnar Deviation
Movement of wrist towards ulna or medial side.
Radial Deviation
Movement of wrist towards radius or lateral side.
Opposition
Movement of thumb across palm of hand.
